Sunroof

I probably sound like an idiot.. How on earth do you put the sunroof back on an 88 944. I took it off for the first time and now don't know how to get it back on. I got it back on the front but the arms at the rear won't go back in. Tue electrical part doesn't work anyways so i can't do anything about that.

Normally one would place the front of the Sun Roof into position first (Insert the wind deflector in front of the sun roof), then operate the up and down switch so the rear arms grab the roof and pull it down. With out any power you would have to go to the Sun Roof Motor (Left side of the rear hatch area, just behind the inner wheel well) and operate it manually. There should be a flat wrench located there to turn the Sun Roof Motor by hand, if no wrench get a socket of correct size and operate the motor with it manually.

Do you know which way to turn it? Because I've gone both ways and nothing

I did the same thing. The arms won't retract enough in the on position. Turn the key one click then operate the arms. they should go all the way in then

oh.. How did you get it out then? There's a safty button in the front of the sunroof that is depressed when it's properly installed. Is that depressing and there must be a fuse somewhere..that's all I know

It can be a finiky situation. In fact, this summer, I was able to remove the top but couldn't reinstall (sounds like your issue). Reason? a failed microswitch located where PeteR mentions. Once replaced, operation returned to normal.
