Porsche Crest LSDiff. pro/con changeout?

I have been thinking because I use my Porsche as sporty canyon cruiser my next car HAS to have a LSD.
Well I have looked at a few 968's that look nice but do not have it. I remember the old American cars with LSD had some kind of clutch mechanism in the differential that needed to be serviced periodically.
So is there any pluses to not having a LSD (less maintenance?), I have talked to some 951 guys who say they can't live without it.
I also presume if I wanted to add LSD I would have to change out the whole transmission.

Thanks,
Scott

The 968 LSD is a Torsen type differential. These don't wear out like the traditional clutch-type LSD, so you shouldn't need to worry about it if you get a 968 with one. Another option is getting a car without LSD and getting a Quaife differential installed. They are also Torsen type differentials, and come with a lifetime warranty.

Porsche Crest

AH HA... so you can change the diff. without changing the transmission! Anybody have an idea what a Quaife differential costs?

Thanks

Cool

Went to Quaife website, price $1200...
Anyone know if this is a DIY project or should I have a pro do it?
