Cv axle problem
I recently put a new cv axle on my 88 944. Well a couple of weeks ago I put it to the floor and one them broke. Well, sent it back as a default part and the put the new one on. Well, I was driving it again today and the other side broke when I put it to the floor. Only thing I can think is that there is too much torque in the wheels for it. Idk. Any help?

Are you popping the clutch and spinning the wheels ?
|
It usually happens when I shift into second. And yea the wheels are spinning at the top of first

Are these OEM Porsche quality?
What is breaking? Are the bolts OK? Ideola's Garage: Stage8 Fasteners for Porsches John |

Did you replace the joints yourself or did you buy complete half-shafts from autozone, napa, etc? If you replaced them yourself did you get the good quality joints mentioned above or some inferior cheaper ones? Did you ensure the cages didn't miss-align when you fitted them? If you bought rebuilt complete shafts with the lifetime warranty from autozone, etc., chances are they use the cheaper joints and are prone to failure. If it is actually the bolts that are failing, chances are you didn't clean the threads out or didn't torque them correctly. If you buy the good quality joints, take care to align the cages and level the shafts before torquing them to the factory torque, and clean the threads out properly before fitting the bolts, this will not happen. |

Seriously, what do you mean by aligning the cages? Level the shafts? |

That's how I'd do it if I didn't have access to ramps or a lift. Jack car up and lower wheels onto blocks to keep the shafts level-ish and the car still raised enough for access.

9FF, Every once in a while I fall into doing something right by accident. When I did my CV's I used my new ramps and used a floor jack to lift the tire off of the ramp to spin the tire/CV joint. Fritz
