So I pulled my plugs,...

Welll atleast the plug for Cyl#1 or is it 4? The cylinder closet to the front of the car is what number?

Anyways,... After about 500 miles I pulled my plugs and,.... theres no oil. Maybe a tiny bit baked onto the ring face of the thread portion of the plug but that might just be carbon I dont know. Let me tell you though,... you guys were right. These turbo do eat plugs!!! That plugs looked like a plug I would of pulled from my Tacoma after 3000 miles!!! I have to buy a whole stash of these plugs. maybe every 1500 miles I will change them.

After replacing all my ignition stuff I havent really had any problems. My car has a poppy gasey sound out of the back everyonce in a while especially if Im driving hard or if I'm holding the throttle and driving down hill?!?!? Was told it's just wasted gas and that its normal. Which I believe because the car drives flawlessly.

I went out the exit 5 rest stop on the palisades parkway other day to meet a dozen 911 guys to go for a drive. I was the only 944 Oh well. We had a great time. I have a new respect for those cars. After seeing them first hand perform,... wow. My car kept up with them just fine. I even advanced a few times because I wasnt all the timid behind the wheel and wanted to follow the lead driver, Rob who nuts behind the wheel. Had a gain on the group most of the time. Him and another 911 guy, Neil. I like this guy Mark too. Pretty wild behind the wheel. I was folling them because I really wanted to push my car to see how she does and she did great! So fast and so accurate on the road. I was scared but I kept telling myself to have faith in the car. Trust the car. The car went where I told the car to go and when. So impressed.

There are some photos I took here along with a link to some other photos some of the other guys took. Im waitiing for a on road photos:

E.Coast runs

The only thing I think I have to do now is clean my ISV because my idle is still rough. check for some vac leaks too maybe.

OH and I would really like to see some other 944 guys come out to drive with us so Im not the only 44 there. We are probably going out again as long as the roads arent salted. I know you guys are out there. I had a drive and hour+ just to get to them so I dont want to hear anything about driving distances.

if yer burning up a plug after 500 miles of highway driving, u might want to go down to a colder plug. maybe 2 steps colder.

Spark plugs have temperature ranges - from cold to hot. You have to make sure you have the proper temp range plug for whatever application you are using it for.

From Wikipedia:
A spark plug is said to be "hot" if it is a better heat insulator, keeping more heat in the tip of the spark plug. A spark plug is said to be "cold" if it can conduct more heat out of the spark plug tip and lower the tip's temperature. Whether a spark plug is "hot" or "cold" is known as the heat range of the spark plug. The heat range of a spark plug is typically specified as a number, with some manufacturers using ascending numbers for hotter plugs and others doing the opposite, using ascending numbers for colder plugs.

In my opinion, use the NGK BPR7ES. Gap to .26 or .28

Yes it is one range colder than stock. The BPR6ES is the stock plug, NGK uses a higher number to denote a colder plug, Bosch is the other way around.

1 range colder is all you need. My car did not like the Bosch plugs and fouled them often, my car is far from stock however.

The cylinder closet to the front of the car is what number?

Number 1 - that is something you really should have known!

But I didnt. It's been a ridiculously long time since ive owned one of these. the service manual has a stupid picture to signify cylinder location that doesnt tell me anything. Now I know.

Huh? I saw a long box with 4 circles in it and what looked like two pulleys one at each end. One looked smaller than the other. Where in the manual is the image you are telling me about?

And I like how the arrow is pointing up instead of down. When I look at the picture I imagine myself leaning over the engine bay at the front of the car,... so this pic is a@# backwards in my opinion. So I guess thats the flywheel in the back and the crank pulley up front? Stupid me.

Old post but I couldn't resist driving the last nail in the coffin but you can see a pulley closest to 1. I mean I'm just saying...

And since this thread was revived, I figured I'd point out the arrow is pointing in the direction of travel. And that all directions referenced for anything on a car are as you're sitting in it. So if you're standing at the front of the car looking in the engine bay, the right side of the engine is on your left.
