944 sunroof drains

HELP! The drain tube for the sunroof on the rear passenger's side of my 87 944 has come off up inside the roof.

How the heck do yuo get in there to put it back on? I took off the trim panel and pulled down the head liner, but I can't see anyway to get inside there.

I need to get inside that metal sandwich up there some how.

Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?

Can you go into your trunk and peel back the carpet above the wheels and push it up from there?

Maybe. But thats 2 feet away from the other end of the tube and I won't really be able to see what holds it in place or know if it is going to stay put.

Correct, the only way is to is to peel all the roof trim off and sorry but it will most properly rip (mine did).
There are metal tubes in the far upper rear corners on the edge of the double skin that have the plastic tube pushed over them,it appears they have been stretched over the metal tube.
These cars get very hot inside in the summer and the hose can become loose due to the heat,I used a zippy tie on both of mine when I retrimmed around the sunroof recently.
When you clean them out you can use compressed air (not high pressure) with the ties on as the plastic hoses don't pop off,I tried it.
If you aren't keen use the heavy cord from a petrol weedeater its clears out the tubes well, tell all how you get on,cheers.

Thanks porschetub, thats what I needed to know.

I have a long piece of small diameter coil pipe that fits easily inside the drain tubes and thats what I use to clean them. I can feel whats going on pretty easy that way and if there is any resistence I can go up from the bottom.

Surprisingly, I didn't hurt the headliner. I was able to pull it off from the hatch opening enough to get up in there.

Thats when I could feel the tube was securely IN PLACE.

So, back to the well.

When I run my coil pipe down the drain tube, it was coming out under the carpet in the well and not going through the tube to exit under the car.

I wasn't aware that tube is 2 pieces. It has another joint just behind and below the fuel filler tube. Thats where it had come apart.

The hard plastic drain tube on the bottom end was pushed down too far to reach, so I had to remove it from it's clips and move it up about an inch.

So that is now fixed.

Thanks for everyones help!
