Porsche 944 Roof Rack
I've been toying with the idea of a roof rack for the 944 so I can haul my bike around and maybe some extra stuff in a coffin box. Other than the elusive and probably extinct factory rack, what kind of options are there? I see that Thule appears to have discontinued all their towers, and since all of my pre-existing rack equipment is Thule, that disappoints me.
Also, does anyone have any pictures of their 944 with a roof rack? I've read some people that say they've fitted a 944 with a rack, but never seen a picture.

That has to be the fugliest 944 I've seen in recent memory.

I have the feet for a Thule and the Fit Kit for the 944.
I am asking for $100 shipped in CONUS, a bit more for shipping to AK. Right now there is one other forum member looking at it, but if that falls through and you want it, it's yours. Cheers, Keith ![]()

I wish that craigslist guy had some better pictures of the rack and how it mounts to his roof. Sort of wasted bandwidth on the car...
Apparently you can use a generic door mount type Thule with a 'short roofline adaptor' kit. I hope someone else has a picture of a 944 with a rack. I think this is an under photographed specie of the car. If I ever get around to it, I'll have to post pictures.

That's good to know that you can get away with just the rack. I've got some intention of throwing a kayak up there, though, so I'd have to see how far apart the rack towers can get. I know the doors are mighty long on the 944, so maybe it would be fine as is.
No pictures on the car?

That is what I'm talking about! What kind of rack is that?

I know this thread is way old but anyway...
Any issues with it crushing the rear window seal? It looks like that's where the rear supports are attached (?). I think the PO of mine was using a roof rack because there were two spots where the rear seal was way compressed and if I went through a car wash it would pour into the back through the seal. |

The Thule mounts on the side of the car, doesn't touch the rear seal.

How about the Yakima? The pic above looks like it's attached to the rear hatch area as the rear-most mount is way behind the door...
