I've lost track of all my PO nightmares. The home-wired after-market immobiliser using bits of scrap wire and lots and lots of solder. The use of superglue when in doubt to get everything back together that 'didn't want to go'. You get the idea.

Today's was little but good, though. After working on the electrical system. I found the car running really rough. Felt like three cylinders.

I discovered the negative wire on the electrical connector for the injector on no. 4 cylinder had burnt out, maybe when I reconnected the battery and fired up. Then the positive wire came off when I pulled it lightly.

On closer inspection I noticed it was another PO job. Rather than order a $5 part from Bosch, he'd sawed the old connector in two crossways, and soldered the wires onto the back of the metal connectors as they sat level with the plastic. Then glued around them to hold it together.

No. 4 cylinder's injector had been working like that for many years, by the look of the old solder and old glue. Just pure fluke it died at home, rather than 100km from anywhere.

LOL...
"Do you have the aluminum control arms, or steel?"
"Yes."

I bought a 951 engine that the PO had poured radiator stop-leak into the oil. What a disaster.

Mine had a exhaust hanger that was bolted using 2" wood bolts. Screwed into the back seats. If someone was to ever fit on there they would get a nasty surprise.

I'm not proud of this, but I used a coat hanger to hold up my a/c compressor once. Damn ear broke on the way from West Palm Beach to NYC... in the winter, on a Sunday night.

+1 I would too. My compressor decided to unmount itself on the freeway once; I had to stop and remount it at 1am in the middle of winter, so I feel for ya.

Sadly my worst PO was just some dude who sprayed everything under the engine bay either black or red. Without priming, masking, or using heat resistant paint. Not only did it look like crap, but there was no way to remove my cam housing without getting paint flakes all up in my oil. Coulda been worse!

I bought one once where the PO had sprayed the entire car with rattle cans of Black over the factory Burgundy - on rubber parts on almost every thing. It took months of dismantling, replacing, sanding, and all new paint to get it back to normal.
