Sunroof Relay ? about its operation
When I go the car the relay 944 615 117 02 was missing. In its place was a jumper wire from pin 3 to pin 15 on the relay (pin 6 and 8, or something like that on the mating connector). I looked through the schematic and it looks like 15 goes up to the fuse for radio/sunroof. The Pin 15 works its way to the dash sunroof switch pin 2.
The sunroof works with the jumper but it bugs me. I purchased a new relay and placed in the spot. NO sunroof operation???? Looking at the schematic I see that the pin R on the relay is 12V too. Pin A on the relay is 4.3V (not running car) and this comes from the cruise control module?? (seems strange). Does anyone have a schematic to the relay itself?? It this thing just a driver of some sort. If I can find a picture of the inside of the relay, maybe I can figure out what pin turns it on? I tried to find who the maker was, but no luck for me on Google. Thanks Greg https://sites.google.com/site/gregscarprojects/

The relay is the logic to stop operation in various modes. One way is to not allow operation if the car is moving. I believe the wire to the cruise is to sense speed of any kind. There are many switches that must be in the correct position to allow the relay to work.Someone has defeated them with the jumper.

if you're talking about the relay over your right knee - the way i think it works is it senses when the ignition key is inserted - then the relay powers up the radio, power antenna, and the sunroof - if the key is in the off position you can hit the sunroof up switch and the sunroof arms will retract so you can remove the sunroof completely - if the key is in the on position the sunroof switch will operate normally- up-down - so test the connector to see if one of the wires gets power as soon as you insert the key - that wire will lose power when you turn the key to the on position and another wire will power up - it's a pretty complicated system and you can disable it and wire your radio around it but as far as the sunroof you need it if you ever want to remove the roof

Check for loose screws in the front area of the hatch, as the limit switches are located here. Loose screws and the limit switches don't make proper contact, and no workee hatchee!
