OT: TX newspaper bashing P-Drivers

for some reason this article really struck a nerve-

in the Arlington Star Telegram, this guy who writes for the Texas at Large column wrote an article about a rally across america that happens to pass through texas.

anyway, the guy said that "Texas motorists had to duck a flock of ultrarich, aristocratic boneheads this past weekend during the 'Gumball 3000 cross country rally... " blah blah blah

and goes on and on about Porsches and others like ferrari, vett, etc. What pissed the guy writing the artical off is that the participents would get speeding tickets for over a hundred miles and hour and get them in each state, and they would just pay the fine with blank money orders. Fine. but the ultrarich boneheads he says put us all in danger were speeding in the panhandle part of texas. Now i have never been up there, but i hear you see like 1 car every hundred miles or so. So i dont think they were endangering anybody. Plus magazines like Road & Track, European Car, Sport Compact, the Roundel, and others all go out there to test their cars. With real journalists behind the wheels.

I dont know anything about the rally, but i am willing to bet that not one person driving a Porsche or Ferrari caused, or was involved in a wreck during their 3000 mile trip across america.

what pisses ME off is, a story on another page, about a guy (who is not an ultrarich bonehead) in an old van full of plumbing parts merges onto a highway in dallas going 15 miles an hour, and pulls in front of an 18 wheeler going 74. Grease one. Not to mention holding up traffic for hours while they scrape that guy off the concrete barriers.

and i got news for the author. there are 16 year old kids around here who do over a hundred all the time in their econoboxes or hondas with drum brakes and bald tires not wearing seatbelts because they think they are all great drivers. and they race on residential streets.

ok, this post is so long , i forgot my point. but i just thought i would share.

Yeah there's a bunch of idiots that release their jealousy through hate. First off if I don't like someone I don't let them know (not bluntly at least) out of respect. Second, what if I were a paper reporter and wrote about drunken driving and somewhere in it said "and most cases are probably drunk white trash rednecks in pickup trucks" I don't believe that but even if I did I would keep it to myself. There's just some people you can't argue with... It stinks having to be bigger and not arguing about stuff like why porsches are better than mustangs(hehe).

Oh and I'm not an "ultrarich, aristocratic bonehead"- my car cost $3500! If the masses weren't asses than they would all drive old porsches like us and that would be bad! I say let them be with there camaros! Ok I'm done blabbing... later

Reporters and Journalists

Think about this. What do reporters and journalists do? What they do is criticize other people by Monday morning quarterbacking. They, the 'no doers', criticize and second guess the 'doers'. If they had any real talent or know-how, they have a real job. They would not spend all their time talking about what others are doing or what they should be doing in their myopic view.

I'm sure Justin, like myself, feel some responsibility as the offending newsman is from TX (being an annoying socialist , like Molly Ivans, is a requirement to write in the Star - Telegram (referred to as the Startle-gram)). If we see him we'll be forced to give him the obligatory Texas-sized $%#-kicking and then shoot him. Shootin' some one in Texas is perfectly acceptable and the defence goes something like:

Judge: You're accused of causing the death of this-here newspaper man by shootin' him -- how do you plead?

Defendant: Well yer honor, I guess I'll plead guilty cause I done shot him that's true, but I also am pleading it was justifiable homicide.

Judge: On what grounds?

Defendant: Well yer honor, first off he was a northerner, second, he was a commie, and lastly, he just needed shootin'.

Judge: I see. Well... as long as he really needed shootin'...

Defendant: He did yer honor -- I swear it!

Judge: Well then, case dismissed!

Edited for language. -Z-man.

Just remember, talk is cheap!

Exclamation

hahaaha Justin and Kenny.
amen guys.

texas invented the death penalty.

someday they might all drive the national People's Car, and it will be made out of Nerf, and run on Love instead of gasoline, and available only in Green, and the speed limit will be 25 miles per hour,

but you can bet that us big business, oil and gas lovin texans , who are all armed by the way, will never buy one.
so someday we will have to come up with a new motto,

"you can have my non-enviornmentally friendly gas guzzlin Porsche , but you gotta come get it, and its parked at the Alamo, look for the car that has the bumper sticker- 'I'd Rather Be Killing Communists' "

jnkyrd944, Sorry I didn't check that you were from TX as well -- I'm sure you understand. In TX deadly force is an acceptable for protecting life and also terminating the theft of one's property. The side benefit is that it also often terminates the thief as well (thus preserving the genepool). I can't speak for all Texicans but I have a personal firearm used to defend my "homested".

yep, i also learned (in my concealed carry class) that in most car jackings (attempted or completed,) the driver of the car is usually shot. so its also ok to shoot someone who gets in your car and says drive, if they are armed or not...

just a little pelican board fyi..

Firearms aren't the problem. People are. People don't educate their kids. I lived in Idaho growing up. Almost EVERY house had gunS and most kids owned a couple. But most people also were around them their whole lives and had gun/hunters saftey. Gun control only keeps guns out of the hands of honest people. Uzi's are illigal, but bad people still have me. Illigal means nothing if yer a bad bad boy :P

Anyways...Lawrance...that is kinda a sick generalization of reporters. It's a decent job..and only some suck and are jerks ;-). Steriotyping is bad...kinda like how we hate being steriotyped as arrogant rich people. Pot calling the kettle black?

Why don't we just engage in a big group hug lol (and no i'm not a journalist...or know any personally for that matter lol). Now back to trying to get my stupid car to run (sorry baby...didn't mean to call you stupid)
