My 87' N/A was sitting w/o being run for about 2 months while it was getting body work done after someone backing into me. In the last couple weeks since i've had it back it has seemed to start over heating. I don't think it ever used to and I just never noticed but it really doesn't matter that much i guess...

What I am wondering though is if anyone has had a similar problem. At first I just noticed that my fans were going on a lot more often and then after reading my manual i realized that when my heat gauge is in the 3rd section of the gauge the engine is "over heating". Now that I know this i am concerned because after driving for like 15 mins my car is now in that section of the gauge. I don't know if any of you know what i mean exactly w/o looking at your gauge. Before I read the manual i had assumed that the red section of the gauge was overheating becuase this would make sense so i didnt think anything was wrong. So what could this be. I topped off my coolant, my fans are both working, ...ahh!!!! Water pump maybe? Any help would be appreaciated because i drive it daily and need to know if this is something i can fix or not. I am not sure exactly how bad it is to be in the section of the gauge that I am driving in but maybe you guys do, i dont want to do any damage to my engine. Thanks Alot Scott

Check for these things: Blocked thermostat, shaft end play on the water pump. Air in the system. Blocked cooling fins in the radiator. Look also for desbris or oil in the coolant.

DO NOT overheat an alum. engine. You are asking for major problems. Do NOT drive the car until you get this problem solved.
