not sure if i need the whole thing yet. clutch is grinding pretty bad.

Here's a dumb question - have you checked clutch cable adjustment? Could that just have too much slack?

Also note that you can measure the wear of the clutch disc - thickness vs. wear limit spec - through an inspection hole in the bottom of the bellhousing. Worth looking into.
