Trunk space 951

Hi,

I've got a question regarding the trunk space of my 951. Is the space that is reserved for the spare wheel originally covered by some kind of a lid or does the trunk carpet just lay on the upper portion of the spare wheel that is sticking out above the trunk floor?

If there is a lid covering the spare wheel space, how is it fixed to the body?

carpet has molded in sections that ride above the tire and over both compartments on each side.
