Can anyone identify this object?

Can anyone identify this object? It's off of the alternator on my 1991 560 SEL.
Thanks!

Just like everyone said.
Noise suppressing capacitor. You don't really need it. You will get some buzzing/ static from your radio if your alternator is missing it.
