924 Carrera on CL ?

Too much to list

Is this a real 924 Carrera, or just a car with a sticker ...

Nice sticker. That's about it.

I think that sticker is from the old 911 carrera 2.7. Owner probably just put it on with the tint. Stance looks good, but no fender flares = no carrera.

Nope not a Carrera, the 924 Carrera had much more defined rear flairs as well as front flairs. The impact bumper more seamlessly integrated into the chassis and had different shaped rubber pads. From all the pictures I can find there was no side script on the car. Again from pictures it seems as though the car came with Fuchs wheels so those would be the wrong wheels if they are original. Cant tell from the pic but it does not seem as though the car has the raised intake on the hood.

On any note that is not a 924 any way, it is a 944. The wheel arches give it away, the 924 was much more round, you can see the square nature of the rear wheel arches here make it clearly a 944. If the car does in fact run it may be worth in the nature of 2K but that is about it. 3K if every thing is in good order. Could be a fun purchase if you have the time to put into it. The first thing I would do is get rid of that silly decal on the side. I guess he tinted the windows to hide from every one who knows its not a Carrera.

Regards
Dave

Not a 924??? Sure looks like it has 4 bolt wheels (944 has 5 bolt wheels).

Still looks good, even if it isn't real. That rear quarter looks flared (obviously not GT flare) ,yes, it looks like a 944 panel or is that just the light and reflection? Must be some sort of put together "hybrid". 924 4 bolt wheels.

I like the look of the car, if not the sticker price.

I just realized what I thought was a "flare" is indeed the reflection of a canopy or some structure, I think...I wish the guy had more pics...definitely a 924, but someone made it look better. 944 spoiler on the hatch.

I was confused because it looks to have the little front bumperettes and air scoop. I thought it had flares but is perhaps a Franken 924 /44.

It is a crime what will eventually be done to this 924........

It was definitely a regular 924 at some point in its life.

correct. first thing thats a dead giveaway is the 4 stud which means its not a 944 or a carrera gt. besides the 944 front airdam and bumper, the non-standard rear flares, the ad says its a '78 924 and CGT's are an '81 car.

CGT fender flares are the same shape as 944 flares but 944 fenders are metal and carrera gt fenders are supposed to be polyurethane (plastic, same as front airdam). it looks like he may have used the right type of rear flare but has blended it into the bodywork.

944's have a 2 piece front- airdam and bumper. CGTs have a one piece front.

these wheels are standard 924 4 stud alloys painted a different colour.

Someone should tell him to warm up his backhoe and start digging the hole now.

It's an early 924, at that (looking at the door mirror), surprised it's not an auto.

I though it was a 944 from the area in front of the front tires. I did not notice the 4 stud wheels. Maybe those front flairs/front bumper section are off a 944. On any note if you are close to the car it may be worth taking a look at.

Regards
Dave
