Before I start ripping these apart, I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar issue. So, at the risk of re-asking a question that has probable been answered over and I've again...
I own a '90 S2 Cab (and love it) but the darn door handles are nearly impossible to operate from outside the car, it nearly takes both hands to press down the lever (on either side) and the doors literally "pop" open. Sometimes it takes a few tries to close the doors as well. So, are my doors misaligned or just the handles toast? If its the handles is it just a matter of adjusting the linkage or am I looking at more trouble here? Thanks again for everyone's help! Marc |

If they are the same as mine, 86, they need to come apart and be cleaned and lubed. Clarke's... You can put some talc on your weather seals to make sure they don't stick to the door, may ease closing. The latch mechanism also needs periodic cleaning and re-lubing with something that won't drip out.

Cool, thanks
I'll pull everything apart after the storm. As it stands I have new linkage kits for both doors so I might as well give everything a shot, including lubricating the latches. Thanks for the tips, I have the Clarke guide and will review it!
(PS - yup, the specs are the same on the '90 as the '86...save for the convertible top of course!) |

They get tight like that right before they break. Take them apart, and clean/lube and adjust the rod length. http://www.clarks-garage.com/ garage Shop Manual/Body/Door Handle Removal, Installation, and Adjustment
