O2 Sensor install 15735

Just replaced my sensor. Hope I did I right, those posilock connectors were slightly annoying and hope all the wires are connected lol. Anyways, I read a lot of threads about O2 sensors rusted in badly. Mine was the original sensor, pretty filthy and the tip was like charred chalky white. However, it screwed off with almost no protest super smoothly first try! Am I just that lucky for once?

Yes you are. I really messed up the threads on the pipe trying to get mine out the first time, had to run a tap through them, somehow tapped it crooked, and had to try to file the gasket surface to match, all while the pipe was still left on the car. It was not a fun day. This was before the days of discovering PBlaster and buying a MAPP torch.

I liked those connectors. They're pretty easy once you figure them out. Then it all just snaps together and is even waterproof.

Waterproof? Nice. I forgot to mention I doused the thing with PB Blaster and let it soak for five minutes before unscrewing it ^_^

As bad as they can be rusted, 5 min would do nothing in that case.

Yeah, there should have been little blue rubber inserts that go into the connector and seal the wire to the connector shell if I remember correctly. It's been a couple years since I did mine.

Think you're talking about the little 'yellow' end cap seal things. Were a PITA because I made the fun choice to strip the wires BEFORE slipping those on X(

That was the main issue. Appears to be working though. I just drove around until the engine was warm and my idle has never been smoother.. The dreaded idle surge has returned however...
