So im stuck sitting at my shop, and if i dont finish this job, ill be sleeping here... lol
ive got the flywheel lock, and i keep lining up the marks to tdc through the window, but every time i put the flywheel lock in place, it pushes it out of TDC. so now what do i do? i assume the pin and the line are supposed to be lined perfectly up, but it looks like it gets pushed about a half tooth of the flywheel off center when i put the lock on. this is where i end up ![]()

check out other timing belt threads, but from what I remember, one tooth will not matter.
Read clarks garage instructions, very helpful.

Yeah, some of those flywheel locks aren't manufactured that great.
As for what to do. . .keep working! That is not off far enough to cause any problems. When you reassemble, you can remove the lock and align it perfectly to check the marks. Frankly, the primary purpose of the lock is to help you bust the crank bolt. Don't worry, turn wrenchie.

I think you are good with it where it is. If you continue to extrapolate the pointer to the flywheel surface, based on the picture, it would point right to the line on the flywheel.
Check the timing mark on the cam sprocket as well. It should be right on. Keep in mind the flywheel pins twice for each revolution of the cam. I have done about 20 timing and balance shafts belt changes and I frequently see what you have going on there. Speedy ![]()

As Speed said, check your timing marks on the cam sprocket, you will probably find that your are on the mark. If not being slightly off (1/2 tooth) should not cause a prob - do a search, you will find a lot on this subject.
