Porsche Crest what speed do your cars idle at?

i was wondering what speed your cars idle at, I was reading about the 944 shudder and how it drops to 600RPM then goes back up to 950RPM. Back up to? Mine idles at 600RPM...

I believe the idle is 900 +/- 50 rpm with the oil at operating temps. 600 rpm is way too low.

Mine idles a bit high. I'm running about 1000 - 1100 on a normal day, but I'll idle at up to 1800 RPM when that stupid ISV decides to hate me. How hard is it to take that manifold off, how much work is it to clean the ISV?

I set my idle to around 1000. I had it set at 900 but there was an ever so slight shudder when sitting at a light. Uping it to 1g gets rid of it. It's not like this is my fuel efficient car!

I always thought that the engine shuddered too much at idle, makes the whole car shake. But, I heard that if it was at 600 when I got it, it probobly was supposed to be. I'll change it next time i get a chance, It's just a screw under the CAM right?

The factory set the idle for 951 at about 900rpm. It depends a bit if you have A/C or P/S. All 944's had about this idle-rpm. Though, i'm pretty sure it never set higher than 950rpm. My car idles at 900rpm where oil pressure is 2 bar (read, operating temp). It idles at about 1000rpm when cold and will pretty soon go to 900rpm. Strange idle, like up to 1800 is probably caused by a faulty TPS. The 951's are most sensitive to this because they are equipped with a full range, the 944 has an on/off TPS. Try cleaning, replacing it. It might fix all your strange problems.

Idle is set at the throttle body as far as i know.

900 +/- 5. I was at 995 to 1100 but I found that I had vaccum leaks that were causing that. After complete replacement of the vaccum lines and the intake boot I am at a smoothe 900.

Currently idles at 900 to 1000, right in that ballpark. I do have the idle shudder, when the idle drops briefly to 600 then recovers.

Going to try and remedy it this weekend by cleaning out the air filters and the injectors, following the suggestions of a tech article here.

Running 900 - 1000 here, no problems. Car will drop to about 700 with the AC or Defrost heater running.
