Tach
My tach sometimes works and sometime does not. Any ideas. Also, does anybody have a printable complete vacuum diagram for a 1987 944 NA.

I remember a thread not too long ago about a flaky tach most likely being caused by a bad solder joint(s). These can be repaired if you are careful.

Yep, and the contacts on the printed circuit where the bolts go though also get corroded and make bad connections. I pulled my cluster, took the tach out, cleaned all the contacts, then hit all the solder joints on the back of the tach with a soldering iron just long enough so they'd flow. Put it back together and haven't had a problem since.

That sounds easy enough, I may be able to to do it. Of course I will have to wait until the weather warms up a bit. Next week the high daily temps will be in the 20s. I hate winter in Cincinnati.
How about a vacuum diagram. Thanks

Does the heater valve have a vacuum line attached to it.

The late 944 heater control valve is vacuum operated, the early is cable. I don't have a diagram to help you though!

The valve circled in Ernie's picture is in fact an emissions control valve, and its hoses lead to the charcoal canister, and fuel tank. "J" in the diagram.
The heater control valve is the thing leaking in Gawernator's engine bay. Located between the head, and heater core.
