Anyone install a msd blaster 2 with no ballast?
 
Anyone install a blaster 2 with no ballast in a stock system.....? I also need to know that there was no ignition system installed with that too....thansk-chris

I've never installed one, but knowing what i do about electrical current, it's likely that you'll burn out your DME. The ballast resistor is there to bring the coil resistance back up to stock level. as the coil resistance goes down, current through the coil goes up, this is current that the DME has to control. there is a definite limit to the amount of current the DME can handle before you burn out your coil driver (the part inside the DME that actually turns the coil on and off)

Bottom line: you could try it, but it's like playing with fire. you might be fine, you might get burned. unless you have a spare DME laying around, i'd use the ballast resistor.

yeah i put in that ballast ressistor...msd coil works good. thanks..-chris
