shifting problems
I bought an '88 944 that had a destroyed rubber clutch. I replaced the clutch, pilot bearing, rear main seal, and the 2 fork bearings. I never drove the car before the clutch was replaced so I don't know if it had a problem prior.
After installing it however, 1st and 2nd gear felt like the car was bogging down. When shifting into 3rd, it was as the car was going into 1st and revved high, then 4th and 5th felt "normal." I am not sure what it could be. I took it to a shop but they have had it for over a month and not even touched it yet. I was hoping someone had any insight to this problem. |

Did you put a new SACHS OEM clutch in? Disc, PP pressure plate & TO? Was the FW flywheel machined? J_AZ

Sounds almost like he tried to rebuild the tranny with the wrong gears or the clutch is slipping in 1 2 3 rd gear.... My 2 cents

Tow it? Sounds like third should be first, 1st should be 2nd etc? If it's possible to rebuild with incorrect gears

Disregard ANY of the shop info on Clark's Garage. For example, Stuttgart Haus is defunct - was for sale several years ago. Additionally, the Eurowerks Motorsports Ltd. info is over 10 years old! (I wrote that shop description back before Jim and I were even partners.) Here is the updated info for Eurowerks: Zuffenhaus Eurowerks (Eurowerks has been brought into the Zuffenhaus brand it created in 2005) Unfortunately, no emails to make corrections to the Clark's Garage listing have been acted upon. Someone is still paying the hosting fees (keeping the lights on) but no one seems to be home... ![]() For the OP - if you'd like, give us a call and we can discuss the details of the way the car is behaving and get to a more concrete idea of the issue. Or shoot us an email, whichever is more convenient for you!

Check the alignment of your linkage.
I believe shift lever should be at 85 degrees from perpendicular.

finally picked the car up today after 3 months of having it there. When I talked to the guy he was talking about how they had to go and look at the clutch in the rear of the car. Since I know that I replaced the clutch and its in the front, I asked for my keys and took the car back to my house. now going to have to figure this out until I need to bring it to a shop on a trailor
