Porsche Crest White Guage Faces

What are the best white guage faces to use for an early dash? I saw some for sale on ebay, does anyone have those?

I purchased some white faced gauges with different color settings for my 86 944na. I'll have to say they are pretty sweet can't recall the price i think $60 there is a company there that sells them.
I'm going to get the white faces gauges that disappear at night and all you can see is the numbers and needles for my 91 944S2.

Is that the info you were looking for Mikee?

I purchased a set of white face gauges for my 83 944 from eBay (driversgauges) a few weeks ago. The instructions included with the set are pretty darn vague. I would never do it again. They look awesome but make sure you put the miles per hour gauge needle back exactly right or you won't be happy. Their special needle puller is a forked tent stake. What a joke!

Question Hey lambic2000 ...

I purchased from the same company on ebay for my 86 951. What did you use to pull the needles? I got the same tent stake and thought this can't be right....
Thanks
Thom

Well, I used the tent stake. I suppose it does its job. The hardest thing about the whole thing was getting the gauge covers off. What a pain in the butt. I still have to do the center guages. Those shouldn't be too hard. Overall, I like the gauges but they need better instructions. Pictures would help. One note: don't leave the needles yellow. Paint them neon orange.

That sounds great. When will you have the instructions ready (w/pictures and maybe a VHS cassette)?
Just kidding.

I have also purchased a set from drivers edge. They are lexan and appear to be good quality. I believe 2 stick on and 2 use the gauge face mounting screws. I won them on e-bay for $40.00, but haven't installed them yet. I would be very interested in any tips or do's/don'ts that anyone could share. I have an '86 951.

installation of gauges was pretty straight forward. remove something like 9 screws to get out the gauge panel, detach wiring harnesses, unscrew a few screws on back of gauge panel and you have access to gauges. two screws in the center of the speedo and the tach gauge and they come right off, the gas and the oil pressure gauge remain in place and the gauge covers go over them. removing needles is the biggest pain. make sure you make marks on a piece of paper as to where each needle lies at rest, otherwise all your gauges will be off. i just used my fingers when removing the needles, just be sure to pull straight up. reinstalling the needles is a pain, the little pod thingie you push them onto likes to move a lot, just be sure to push straight down, any angle will cause the pod thingie to bend in other directions, no prob, just bend it back. also, now would be a very opportune time to refinish your light terminals, or even better upgrade to perry951 genius led lighting setup. good luck.

On the older gauges, don't get over zealous pulling the retaining ring off. If you do, it will tweak or warp and become a royal pain in the behind to make right again. My dang problem is my mph gauge is now reading 5 miles per hour under. When I put my needle back on I placed it on the right side of the needle stop when the gear was at rest. I then carefully raised it over the stop to the left side. Anybody have any ideas? I don't understand what marking the gauges with a pencil would of accomplished. Silly instructions.
