Thumbs up CENTRAL FLORIDA 6th Annual Porsche 944 Rally & Swap Meet! APRIL 13th

You are all invited to the 2013 Central Florida 944 Rally & Swap Meet! This is the 6th year in a row that I have hosted a 944 rally, but only the 2nd year actually including the swap meet. Last year we had great success, with a huge turnout (over 50 944's!), cool weather, free food, awesome race cars to check out, and TONS of parts for sale! This year we would like to copy exactly that!

Here's what you need to know....

WHEN: Saturday, April 13th, 2013. We will meet up at precisely 10:30am, don't be late!
WHERE: The rally will start at the Central Winds Park: 1000 Central Winds Drive. Winter Springs, FL 32708
WHO: This event was created for the 924, 944, and 968 series Porsches, but other models are always welcome to come also!
BRING: Your Porsche (of course), any parts you would like to sell or trade, enough cash to buy some cool parts, and your appetite for the free food provided by 944 Recycling/Geneva Motorsports (leaving them a tip wouldn't hurt either!) Passengers are welcome to come, but please let me know in advance so I can keep a head count for enough food to order!

Please contact myself Elliott Grafton (egrafton944@hotmail.com) for any questions about the event, or if you would like a spot to sell parts at the swap meet.

Don't forget to visit our FACEBOOK event page!! http://www.facebook.com/events/254342338034202/

Last year we had an astounding total of 53 different 924/944/968's at the event, plus one 911! Here are a few photos from last year.

I look forward to seeing you there this year!

Really looking forward to this, just need to change my rod bearings(I hope) and I'll be all set. After checking google maps, that park is only like 13 miles from my house.

Move it about 900 miles north and I'll come. It's on the same day as my birth day too!

You guys ought to get something together up there in the Northeast! I never thought I'd be the person organizing a big 944 get-together but it's really quite simple!

Get those rod bearings swapped out soon so you can get it back on the road! You won't want to miss this event!

Wow! That's quite a hike, but I am honored that you would like to attend. Give me a heads up if you are for sure coming as we get closer to the date! Let me know if you need any advice on hotels, etc. And if you would like to stop in GA a day or two before the event, you are welcome to convoy down with a couple of us from up here in Atlanta/Athens area!

Alright, well as soon as I get my POS working I'll organize a meeting somewhere in my area and see how many people I can get to come.

I'd be up for a Western Gulf of Mexico meet. You know like Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

Drift a 944,

I'll let you know... My father-in-law actually lives in Winter Park so I do have a place to crash. Thanks for the offer! As for a Northeast meet, I would definitely offer to assist in organizing or working the dates. There are many great roads to accommodate a run, especially in the late summer/early fall. I even would bring a few parts to sell/barter. I can also throw down some serious BBQ or wiener schnitzel! The idea of having a "pit area" or even sponsoring a couple of tech/how to classes would round out the event quite nicely.

Hi Wendell! I am really glad you will be joining us this year.

And yep, I'm just heading down for the weekend! Couldn't resist having another rally back in Orlando with all my 944 buddies!

Very true about the auto-train! It's literally 10 minutes from the meet, no joke!

And Brian, you ought to bring her along for the ride!

You've got some great ideas there. You sound like a future 944 meet organizer! My best advice is this: Try to keep a contact list of all the 944 guys in your local area, at least within an hour or two driving distance, and notify them when you set something up. Phone numbers, emails, forum PM's, and everything in between. Drill the date into their brains!! Try to have all the plans already set in stone instead of asking for opinions, people seem to enjoy basically whatever you choose to do. Our first 944 meet we had in Orlando was in 2006, at a Hooters, LOL... And there was about 6 944's that showed up. Each year I added more and more locals to my 'list' and we turned it into an annual rally. So about 6 years later (last year) we had a total of 54 944's show up! You can do it!

Dude, let's just use my 944's engine bay. I'll re-install the leaking injector, rev it up and wait and bam perfect grill!

Elliot: It's great to see you keeping this thing going. Someday this will be the biggest annual 944 gathering on the planet......maybe it already is. Like others said, it's a great event and a rare chance to hang out with others who share the same infatuation with these over-engineered, expensive, difficult-to-work-on cars that can be so beautiful and so much fun to drive. I will definitely be there. If anyone from NE Florida wants to caravan down with me and Wendell, let me know and we will set up a place to meet. ......Terry
