to all street racers DONT

A young guy who I have seen many times, has an Audi A3 and not stock. He drives like an idiot period. His tag is from Florida we are in NC, today he came behind me in my 944 and he clearly wanted to race which I do not do. Any way he was passing cars on hills and double lines etc. He would get ahead of me then slow to make me pass which I did not. Any way long drive home to make this short, this kid will be hurt some day or worse hurt some one just driving. I will see my friend policeman tomorrow and see if we can stop this so please if you want to race got to the track period. Sorry for the vent but I am pissed.

Here in SoFl there is a number posted along I-95 to report reckless drivers and we have eyes in the skies that can track them. Its good if they are caught before doing any harm to anyone and a shock to the system when their insurance doubles for such a ticket, which it will for a number of years.

Here in CA I get swamped by ricer types wanting to race my 944.... I don't street race and would like to think I'm an excellent driver... Not to say I don't drive "spirited" at times

Wow that sucks,in my country the police have a sledehammer rule you do dumb stuff your car is impounded and you don't see it again ,our rules on modification of cars is supertough, the rules are made for the ones that don't follow them so the average car guy suffers for that.

+1 on this remark. Since taking my '44 back out I seem to have attracted all the local 'racers' including a bunch of saloon car drivers who should know better.

I never rise to the bait and always let them get ahead, even pulling over if I have to...this approach (I think) is probably the safest. I have been driving since I was 17 and am now approaching 54 - I have seen it all!

Keep safe everyone!

Well, you don't have aholes in F350's that tailgate you at 70mph? Here in Alberta it's not so much the ricer's as it is the oversized SUV's and pick ups that tend to drive like that. It happens a lot here in Alberta. In general, it seems to be Escalades, Hummers and any vehicle over 3 tons that feel the need to intimidate law abiding sports car owners.

Being "tempted" into a race in my 944 would never be an issue...I think most minivans on the road today could take me

Funny how this happens, thought it was just me, I have been baited SO many times, remember one time it was a turbo Nissan Skyline, I knew I can't have him on the straights ,the twisty bits came up and he was gone ,these cars aren't that fast by modern standards but man they go round corners

Had just fitted the 2.7 and all the bugs were sorted couldn't help myself ,I'am older and wiser now and wouldn't do that again, best to enjoy the car for what it was designed for - safely.

No kidding. I think they pick on us just so they can tell their friends they raced a Porsche and won.

I live in a pretty redneck area and encounter lifted dually trucks with their smoke stacks, balls on the tailgate hitch, CB radio antennas, horns on the grille, etc riding my ass and cutting me off on a daily basis. Those people are worse than ricers trying to get you to race in my opinion. I see lots of people talking on the phone and texting too. Maryland has the worst drivers in the world...

Someone should invent a device that converts the rear hatch glass into a mirror at the flick of a switch. Blaze their eyeballs hotter than hell!

...girlfriend chirps in...could adjust hair & make-up after loading up trunk.

From a different angle: I take it as a compliment. If our little cars didn't exude the racing spirit through their design, they'd ignore us. The engineers at Porsche really had their creative hats on that day. I have always loved this design. Yes, the idiots are a frustration but then again, so are toll booths, full toilet stalls and screaming children on airplanes.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

What a coincidence. I blowed up my 944 after failed brakes no street racing required
