I have a 1987 Porsche 944 automatic. Yeah, I know some people don't like the autos and prefer manual. I get it. I ended up with a beautiful 87 auto 944 in guards red with black interior. It came with new water pump, pulleys and belts, spark plugs, ignition wires, cap and rotor and ignition coil. It runs very strong. I have a wilk / powerprom race chip in it. Wow, it transformed the car. I understand that the stock 0-60 times is about 9.5-9.8, 0-60, with chip I got two times of, 8.7,8.8 seconds, 0-60, that is about a second off of my 0-60 time, that is pretty darn incredible. My auto is especially strong engine wise and pulls pretty good. Funny, a friend of mine has the manual 944 of the same year and he sat in my car and stated that my car felt almost as fast as his, both his and my car are equally as well running. I get the connection with the car is greater for some people with manual but the car handling, steering feedback and general feel of the car are very apparent even with automatic. I might try and track down a manual version of this car in the future but I am happy with her. Do any of you have a auto 944 with chip. I find that with the chip car does not feel sluggish, quite peppy, maybe I got lucky with an especially strong running auto 944. Ger.

Have a friend with a The same setup. He said Response was slow on take off but car runs better with a few inexpensive mods... (Cone Air filter, Throttle Body Cam, Chip and some new spark plugs) I enjoy seeing an automatic 944 running good anytime. They are a rare sight these days. Keep us posted, Ok.....Later.

It is hard to believe that I am getting 0-60 in about a second less with powerprom race chip than stock. I have a K&N filter, new spark plugs, etc. Car pulls stronger from dead stop, not a rocket of course but about as fast as a stock manual 944. That is not bad. I can hardly believe what this darn chip did for my car, maybe not much horsepower but man it has quicker acceleration. I was not able to locate a 944 n/a manual anywhere near me that did not have tons of issues, bad clutch, belts, water pump, etc. I am pretty happy with my automatic. I some people put down people with automatic porsche 944, three speeds. I appreciate your positive post, breath of fresh air. Ger.

I have an 87 944 Auto also. They are great driving cars. I left mine unloved and sitting for too long due to some needed maintenance I never had time to get to, now it won't go into reverse. I am about to undertake reviving it. I miss driving it.
