Early 944 AC troubleshooting guide
Can anyone point me to a troubleshooting guide for the air conditioner for an early car (1984 944)? I would like something that provides step-by-step procedures for help in isolating the problem. Many thanks.
BTW, I got my Early American plates for the car on Saturday. Early American plates are for cars over 25 years old in Connecticut. By pure happenstance, I got a great number.

A nice coincidence on the plate.
Since you are a member of Pelican, class 2001, you probably know about Clarks-Garage HVAC-02, AC troubleshooting and repair. Probably the best for early cars. Air Conditioning Troubleshooting and Repair The WSM also has a couple pages of DIY tips.   Then there are the "Cliff Notes" Trouble Shooting DIYs Automotive A/C Diagnostic Checkout Procedures Better... Troubleshoot Automotive Air Conditioning Problems Basically, after a visual inspection, you need a set of AC guages to go further. If the freon is low when you start you need to locate the leak with a dye or electronic leak detector. To recharge you need a vacuum pump 2.5 cfm and up to evacuate and do a leak test. SO, do you have R12 or R134a in the car? Guages? Vac Pump? Leak detector or dye? GL J_AZ
