Steel sleeved cylinders-previous owner did that
Custom J&E pistons-101.50mm
Compression 10:6:1 (euro spec) flat top pistons, originally was 10:2:1
All new bearings, 968 external oil cooler
Rebuilt head, new head studs..set at 73 mm
Polished crank,
Some great pics if you don't know what the inside of your engine looks like !!

Very cool! I love the look of a shiny new engine.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Yes..I did some very time consuming aluminum polishing...balance shaft covers, oil pan, motor mount brackets ..lots of cleaning..I bought the car here in Phoenix, but it originally came from near Oakland CA, and had a lot of salt water air corrosion on the aluminum parts

I had the engine block cleaned and bored-honed at Lindsey Racing..shipping the bare block was about $80 each way..I should have polished the block with my dremel and a wire wheel!!

Very nice, thanks for sharing. Did you by chance fly cut those pistons to clear the valves fully open at TDC or are they stock cut?

Not sure what fly cut means..the pistons are cut stock I guess...look at the pictures of the pistons..they are cut for intake-larger cut and exhaust-smaller cuts in the tops of the pistons...Mike at Lindsey racing ordered them for me

What are your plans for the head? my research indicates good gains in that area.

Those should stock-type reliefs for 1mm clearance under normal operations.

Not enough thickness on the pistons to cut deeper reliefs to clear valves in event of timing-belt failure. Ends up needing a pocket 5mm deeper than the bottom-edge of the piston. Also the loss of compression due to larger combustion-chamber volume negates going from 10.2 to 10.6. This model shows cuts needed on 9.6 compression pistons; hole through piston would be even larger with 10.6 pistons.

Those are custom, not stock 10.6 and the pockets must be deeper as they don't have the center dimple of stock 10.6

Being custom you could specify more depth at the top to allow maybe 10.2 with clearance for valves.

OP, fly cut pistons is what you have, it's the cut outs for the valves in the piston tops. I was just asking if you had them cut deeper to ensure there is no valve to piston contact if the belt breaks.
