If All Goes Well...
If all goes well over the next day or two, I ought to be buying my third ever Porsche 944!
![]() It's an early 1985, Maraschino Red, in better cosmetic condition than my daily driver... for $800. I will, of course, be replacing the timing belt before I start it up (7 year-old rubber, ick!) It's been in storage for 7 years, started maybe three times a year, and *should* be in running, driving condition. It's a steal. ![]() Since I am a professional videographer (for a car magazine, no less), I figure I'll probably do a video series about its early life with yours truly. I'm planning on stripping out the carpet/sound-deadening, selling the seats, putting in a couple of racing buckets and a roll cage and making it into a track car/winter beater when I don't feel like risking my '86. Yippee! I'm so excited.

Doesn't sound as if you have things prioritized correctly. It looks better, is easier to maintain as a DD, yet you want to preserve the 86?
Tear up the 86 on the track, preserve the better car. Congrats on the find, hope it works out.

Yeah, that's a legitimate point, but ultimately, the reason I haven't addressed my daily driver's cosmetic concerns is because I've put so much into making it a reliable every day car. If I'm going to thrash either of the two, I'd rather it were the one that I hadn't spent so much time and money on making mechanically sound.
Plus I just handed over a new fender to be painted and put on my DD, so that'll address my biggest complaint appearance-wise. ![]()
