Ahhh Scheisse!!

Well, went out to the garage this morning (4:20AM EDT), and the 44 wouldn't start. Cranks great, getting good oil pressure, just no start.

I've been having a bit of a "hot start" problem lately (takes longer to start on a hot day with a warm engine).

I'm suspecting the DME relay or the fuel pump/check valve. Also will consider battery ground wire, it was looking a little ugly last time the car was on a lift. As I was dressed for work, and due to the time, I did not have a chance to pop the hood and actually look at anything.

Plugs, cap, rotor, wires, and fuel filter were done within the last 10k miles.

Turning out to be a great day so far...had to drive the **gaccck** Hyundai to work...

Mine would do that occasionally. Check the magnetic pickup lines coming off the top of the clutch housing where they plug into the other wire. Cleaned both leads where they plug together. For some reason engine would start when cold (always) but occasionally would fail to start when hot.

Was it dark the last time you drove it?
Check and see if you're getting ignition pulse to your coil.
Of course:check batt. terminals and the ground you mentioned.
Could the check valve be pluged? they seem like such simple things...

Fixed it, it was the DME relay.

Do you have the Haynes 944 manual? Or the CDR's with the PDF manuals?

Serious questions.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Actually I did check those too, I was somewhat surprised that there was some corrosion as I had just changed both sensors last september when I did my clutch.

Applied a little dielectric grease to the contacts so hopefully that won't happen again.

The DME relay itself was toast, I opened up the case and git that "fried electronic smell" right away.
