Deposits on Pistons
So I removed the head, took off the valves, etc and sent the head in to be cleaned and such. Now, I am staring at my pistons that are covered in black deposits in a cresent shaped pattern.
Whats the best way to clean/remove these deposits? Brian |

Wire brush on the end of a drill motor.
Shop vacuum the crud that comes loose. Don't let it get into the cooling jacket. I usually drop the piston down a 1/4" or so from TDC to "fence in" the crud.

Many auto parts stores sell a decarbonizer. That couples with a brush usually helps

I used a brush and gas to help get them clean.
