Strut dust boot shields upgrade
I see all these lifted trucks around here with lifted suspention and dust boots on the shafts of the shocks to keep debris from getting inside
I was on autozone website and they offered a dust boot that was much better then the simple plastic dust boot our early cars have stock. Anybody upgrade or update there's to the style star protects the entire shaft of the strut from the elements? I installed new koni struts and want them to last. Eventually the shaft is going to get scratched and mess up the seals and kill the struts I would imagen? |

I have been running the KYB SB104 boot and bushing on my 968, works fine. My bushings had deteriorated and I was pulling the struts to check operation so these went in when the struts were determined to be in good shape. They are like $13 on Amazon.

Ok nice thank you. I have seen this type of boot On Rancho off road shocks for trucks and it made sense to me to install some similar on out cars to protect that shaft as much as possible and with the rain commung and all the sand getting everyplace it seemed like a good idea.
I think you can buy just that dust boot without the stopper at the autoparts store but who knows if it fits Jfrahm is the rubber stopper and dust boot one piece or does the boot fit over the rubber stopper? If so I might just be able to just use a new dust boot with the factory rubber stopers |

The boot fits tightly onto the elastomer. I do not think you'd want it flopping around as it might if the elastomer bumper is not the right size to keep it in place.
