Single-piston caliper rebuild : vise
How much grief will I save if I use (really buy - I don't have one) a vise for rebuilding the single-piston Ate calipers?

Just make sure the piston is set correctly to the caliper/frame before you push it in. Read the directions and the pictures. Bench Bleeding the brake MC ----yes. J_AZ |
What would you need a vice for
|
Holding the frame while you wire-wheel the crap out of it getting the rust off, get the piston out, dig out the old seal, press the slug back in, fight with the sliding part, and on and on.
Not my only vice...er, vise. |
A vise is a good tool to have in general, so why not? If you want to get fancy, look for an old American made Wilton. Anyways, I have a China made Bessey that works just fine. Check out flea markets, garage sales, pawn stores, Craigslist, etc... The Garage Journal
