Swapping 85 1/2 NA motor into 83 NA 944 Questions

Hello All
I am planning on swapping my good engine from my 85 1/2 NA into my 83 NA with a bad motor. I am pretty sure the longblocks are the same, however my question is with the fuel injection, should I remove all of the fuel injection parts from the 85 1/2 engine and install the injection parts from the 83 onto the 85 1/2 or are they the same? Thanks in advance for all help given

Is your car early (with square type dash ) Or late (oval type dash)? Unsure what 85 1/2 actually means? Did you mean 85.5 (later oval dash)?

And as long as you keep the same brain with the engine, you should not have to change out the fuel injection anything..

I have the 85.5 with the oval dash with the larger a/c vents and more modern interior while my 83 has the more square dashboard as used in the 924's and 944's up to the first half of 1985. So you are saying that if I change the later motor into the earlier car I can keep the later fuel injection parts on the motor already and also I should swap the later 85.5 computer with the motor? Is it that straight forward? If so that would be wonderful, but I would love to hear that somewhat confirmed before I jump into it too far.
Thank you again for your help

use the fuel rail that came with the car the engine is going into. the DME/AFM doesn't care where it is as long as they're matched.

On the early cars the fuel lines go to the right and to the firewall, late cars go to the left over the header and to the fender liner. If you don't know the last time they were replaced, now is a great time. Everything else should work.
