Auxilary Fuse Box Location?

According to the factory manual there is an auxilary fuse box ('84+ models), that holds 9 fuses that run the higher amp electric stuff. Where is it? I am not talking about the central electric board (aka main fuse/relay box).

Problem: I am not getting power to several relays (blower, windows, mirrors, wipers) on the main board and think this area may be my problem.

I see mention of a "Bohlman Compartment". Is this the access panel under the passenger floor?

Here is a picture of it and what fuses go where, but for the life of me I can't remember where it is.

Only early dash 944 models and all 924S models have an additional fuse board. Later (late dash) 944 have only one fuse board.

If you are not getting any power to relays, the first thing to do is check the relay board itself.

If you have an early dash 944 the additional fuse board is directly above the fuse/relay board.

AF, that's exactly the page I am looking at.

Britwrench, the maunal says models since '84...?

Against the dash. I guess I need to spend more time looking!

BTW, my relay rig for the AC ended up killing my battery, I thought the blower was shutting off at 0, but I guess not.

Jeff, you have to put your head under the dash to see the board, it is fixed horizontially under the dash right by the main fuse board. It takes about 0.00000000002 seconds to find!!!

Don't forget; this only applies to 944 models up to 1985/1

Britwrench,

I have an '86 model. So the P-manual is wrong? If so, then there are no extra high amp fuses other than the ones located in the central electric board?

Cheers!
Jeff

No, the manual is not wrong, it only refers to early dash (up to 85/1) 944 models. The fuses in the relay board are all you get.....

Sounds like, and you have to do the diagnosis, that the relay board is faulty.

Yes. It must be a connection or ground problem. Several items went out at one time. (BTW, this part of the manual was printed in 1983!)

Well, considering the position of the board and the narrow opening, I'd say it took me about 1.0000000002 seconds to find the board....craning the neck is a must!

On my post (944 dies..then starts), I posted a link to a page that shows the fuses/relays for the early 944, but you have a later model, so it is obviously different.

Workshop manuals are printed at various times; then Porsche sell suppliments to update the original. You could easily have the situation where you had a 944 manual printed in 1982 with all the suppliments to 1991...

If you are looking at the wiring diagram for a 83 model it is not even slightly like a 86, make sure you use the correct model year wiring diagram.
