CV boot clamp tool
I take it that I need an Oetiker type pincer pliers to affix the crimp clamp to the CV boot?
Will such a tool work for small clamps like on the brake fluid reservoir? Can I just dull down the teeth on a pair of those snips for cutting nails flush with a deck? |
for the smaller clamps the constant tension hose clamp may be better. as the hose dries out and shrinks the hose clamp self tightens

I just got the 10 dollar Loebro kit in my hands, and a pinch-type clamp for the CV boot. This is in fact an Oetiker type tounge-in-groove pinch clamp.
does a 944 actually need this pinch clamp? the PET doesn't show as such. if it does, then there are the special pliers that are required for this and other cars like GM's: Pelican Parts.com - CV Boot Clamp Pliers for Earless-Type Clamps I'll report back once I actually get to look under my car (it might as well be in another country right now). |
On those band clamps with the "ears," that is what I use... a pair of end nipper pliers similar to Harbor Freight #38496.

Bah, clamp, who needs it. I use zip ties :)

Last one of these I did the boot was so freakin' tight it barely installed. Tossed the clamps.
