Question gear shift lever

I just received my new gear shift knob and lever. Any tips/suggestions on putting it in would be appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of knob and shift lever did you get?

Type of gear shift lever?

I purchased it from 9xauto.com. It's the one pictured in the website. It has a new lever (OEM) and boot. It looks like in the diagram there are 2 bolts that hold down the plate which holds the ball on the lever in place. I guess I can just rip the foam from around it. Any suggestions on problems that I might encounter in putting in the new one would be appreciated. Thanks.

Once the pull the boot off your center console, the circlip holding the shifter shaft has to be removed. Be careful or you will lose it in the foam or torque tube. Next is the 10mm bolts. You may have to angle the plate to pull it out once the bolts are off. You don't want to take the foam out as it keeps the exhaust and the heat out of the car, my shift lever gets quite hot since most of the foam is gone. Once the new one is bolted down, adjust the lever so that it is about 80 degrees from vertical tilting forward, then tighten the bolts. I assume that the new kit has the boot as part of the knob, so take the plastic retainer from the old boot and into the new one. That should pretty well be it.

Thanks, I appreciate your response. Would you add any grease to the ball or the shift lever shaft?
