My left door has a click sound every time the door is opened

Hi All,

I'm 944/1 newbie from Thailand. I just got this car 3 days ago and I'm trying to restore my 1982 RHD 944/1 2.5L. I have a question about “door stop bracket”.

My left door has a "click" sound every time the door is opened. I found out that the “door stop bracket” on the left door is not the same as on the right door. Also the “hinge pin” is obviously not stock. Here is the picture.

I don’t know if the previous owners changed it, or not, but I want to keep my car stock.

Please advise if the “door stop bracket” on my left door is stock or not. Please be reminded that my car is RHD and I need a stock “door stop bracket” for my left door (my passenger side).

I’m not sure if the click sound comes from this bracket or the hinge pin.

Thank you,
Aey

Hi Aey,

I also have a 944 in Thailand although mine is a 1991 S2 model. In reply to your question the left hinge pin and bolts attaching the hinge to the body are not stock. The bolts and hinge pin on the right appear to be correct. I'm not sure if that is the source of your noise, but it very well could be.

i'm a righty too.

I agree with the consensus so far, it doesn't look stock. i dont have a noise but i decided to check my doors because i have my door cards off right now and i had a look and got a surprise.

as you can see from PET (if you dont have this already, you can get it from porsche classics on their website in pdf) items 11, 12, and 13 are what I'm concerned with.

checking of my both doors, they were the same- #12 and #13 are missing. I have no idea how or when this happened and there's no remains in the bottom of the door.

i recommend taking off your door card and checking for this and the open and close actions of that mechanism.

Thank you for your reply J1NX3D. Now I can confirmed that the noise is coming from the wrong bracket. New bracket is on the way ;-)

Very nice & clean looking S2 John! We should meet up some day.
