Power locks

Just got my Performance Products catalog yesterday. They are selling a power lock upgrade for the 944. Has anybody done this? The manual locks are (grammer police alert-should I use "is" instead. No jokes about the definition of "is" please.) the only thing I'd change on my baby.

Are is correct.

Known a few people that did it, never really heard anything good or bad about it.

As a side note - you will still have to manually lock your door with the key.

I have not tried those, but I used these...

I just installed then today, but they seem to work fine. Not all the hard to install either.

I was hoping to use the locks with a car alarm equipped with the auto door locking thingy. The ad says it works with car alarms. I'm too lazy to lock and unlock the doors manually. And have you tried leaning across the passenger seat to unlock the door. Those Germans must be contortionists-and short.

Get the 5 wire as it locks and unlocks both sides. Some alarms lock the doors when ignition is on, hassle if you are picking someone up. And the complete kit with harness and relay are cheap and easy to install. I found the lenght of the harness to be just right for my 944.

I bought a power lock kit once. (Still Have it.) But when I got the door panel off I could not find a place to mount the actuator. It did not seem possible. What did I do wrong?

Thanks
Thom

P.S. It looked almost identical to the ones on ebay..

You mount them behind the sheet metal near the rear vents of the door, parallel to the lock knob. You need to drill 2 holes for the screws.

marksportcts,
so the actuators are mounted vertical? Do you drill the holes in the end of the door (vent) or the part the door panel mounts to?

Thanks
Thom

If you want to just show pictures with a 100pg guide on how to do it that would be great.

no...horizontol ...... the actuator sits pointing to the end of the door (with the vent.)

not on the sheet metal where the door panel mounts either... (your window will hit it)

its further into the door behind a piece of sheetmetal (right behind the door handle)...

anyone have a pic of this handy.
