New sensor, speedo still doesn't work
My speedo stopped working (odometer still works) and I just replaced the sensor tonight. Speedo still doesn't work. What do I try next?

Speedometer could be the problem, or the wiring between the sender and the speedo. Of course, if you replaced it with a used sender, the used sender could be bad.

1987 Turbo Odometer question
Went through the same thing. The circuit board needed easy repair, then new gear didn't mesh right. I broke my sender removing from the transaxle, which in retrospect should have been left alone. I'll vote for smoked speedo board, but do the gear and illumination upgrade while you are in there. Good luck. |

Sensor is new. Wires to it look good, as does the connector.
Too bad about taking the cluster out, but oh well. Good news is I work on pc boards everyday, so that won't be a problem. The dim dash light plague will also get fixed. Thanks guys. |

Most likely a fried resistor on the speedometer circuit board. Replaced the resistors and the odometer gear on my 85.2 a couple months ago. I ordered a speedometer rebuild kit and odometer gear from Arnworx. Here's a picture of my speedometer's breadboard showing the fried resistor:

I bought the same kit. Toughest part of the job was assembling the speedo cluster without dog hair finding its way in there... Third time was a charm. Wish I had done the board repair before wasting time elsewhere.
