Central locking mechanism M341

Option code M341 is "central locking mechanism"

Does that simply mean the button in the center consoke with a big circular red lamp in it where you can lock both doors at once? If so, I am surprised this is a special option... or I don't understand how options work (yes I can see the lengthy list in the PET).

Yes, plus the actuators in each door, and the switches in each outer door handle, and the control unit, and the wiring.

If you want to add remote entry to your car, this the option you must have. It can also be done if you add your own actuators, and wire them up, but that becomes a lot more involved.

The central locking module is a rectangular black box, attached to the steering column, under the dash. There are many wires, but you must figure out which combination of 2 unlocks, and locks the doors. They will be different. Attach them to a momentary remote box, (from china, lol) and Bob's your uncle.
