Opinions-What should I do?

Heres the situation.
I now own 2 cars, a 1981 924 Weissach edition with salvage title, strong engine and trans (possible blown clutch), needs paint suspension parts, shocks, tires and minor body work.
The second is my daily driver, a very nice and clean 1983 944.
I need a backup vehicle (that works) and I have limited funds. Should I keep the 924 and fix it or should I sell it for 2 or 3 hundred and save up to get a 944 fixer?

If you have the time, and inclination you probably could part that 924 out on E-bay and make more than 2-300. The DME alone will fetch $150, the Engine $500. Then put back into a 944.

My 2 cents worth.

The Weissach edition has a little more value than the regular 924, but I'm not sure if it would be worth restoring it. Was that the one with the Martini colors?

Most likely, as with any restoration project, the $$ you'd put into restoring the 924 won't be realized on the other end.

Just my $0.42

I'm totally brain dumping, what are the differences between a regular 924 and a Weissach edition?

Didn't the Weissach have bright red carpets? I think the there was a 911 as well.

Porsche took parts for 400 924's and took them to the Weissach facility and assembled them there. They put in brown and tan cloth seats, brown interior and special Platinum Metallic paint. These cars were very tight. They have a special plaque installed for this special edition. Beyond this my knowledge is limited. It has been my impression that (since owning three 924's) this one has a bit more get up and go, is more reliable, fewer problems and handled a bit nicer.
And no it did not come with red carpets.
I found mine in a horse stables, not running , having acted as storage for porsche parts for 3 years. With a minimum amount of work, we got it running by changing out the old fuel regulator and swapping the vacuum hoses around. It still needs paint and some TLC to get it running again. For six hundred dollars, I got 3 years of reliable transportation

Ahh if you only lived closer, sounds like it would be a fun project car.
