AC LEAK? month after charge

does this look like a leak at the compressor? had it charged a month ago and it was cold for a few days - now nothing. Would this need an oring replacement.

it is hard to tell from the pictures, but the green really looks lime green and also appears to be sprayed on the alternator shroud directly above (not in pictures)

That could be the O rings but I think it looks like the fitting, the r-134a hose adapter threads on to the r-12 hose fitting. Mine leaked there too, looked similar.

If not, the O-rings can be had from a regular auto parts place.

Eliminate the problem by replacing both o-rings and the 134 fitting. It leaves nothing to guess if you do.

Do you have to remove the compressor to replace the o-rings?

No, the suction and discharge hoses are held in place by those two 13mm bolts visible in your pictures. Remove those bolts and the hoses come loose. You would actually have to remove those before you could even remove the compressor in actuality.

You can buy a package of assorted O-rings for refrigerant use at your local auto parts store for a few bucks. They don't need to be special ordered.

Be careful and thoroughly measure those O-rings. Removing the air box and alternator gives you clear access to the hose manifold. I had the same issue when replacing the compressor with a new unit. It took a second attempt to get it right. In addition, I don't know the appropriate torque setting for those four Allen bolts. She blows quite cold now; it's also snowing today thus negating the need !

Schrader valves can bend and leak. This one caused minor leak---system would probably not have died in one month. Might want to flag Kuehl down to take a look at pics.

I recently replaced the AC compressor on my 968, same set up. Here is the procedure with a tons of pictures. I personally would just get the O-rings from Pelican or a Porsche dealer. They are a few bucks and you don't have to go hunting for the right ones. If it is not right, you're going to loose the charge.
