Hi guys,
My speedometer on my 1984 944 NA, makes a ticking noise and the needle jumps when I take off in the morning. The faster I go the more frequent the ticking and needle jumping is. After about 10 minutes or so of driving the speedo gets normal again. No ticking no jumping. Any ideas as to why? I am thinking it may be the cold (freezing or bellow freezing) and stops acting when it warms up?

The speedo cable just needs to be lubed. The cold is inhibiting the lubricating properties of whatever grease is still in there.

Sausage is correct, Just remove the instrument panel and (very slowly) apply many drops of chain/cable lube. I performed this 1.5 yrs ago and haven't had an issue since (knock on head several times).
