Unhappy 83 Porsche 944 starting problem -starts after a few tries

Hi! Im very new to porsches so forgive me if I make mistakes.
I recently got an 83 944. I had it taken to a personal mechanic and painter who got the car running and resprayed. The car was starting and running fine until I took it for its first test run. When i got back from the test run it would take 4 or 5 tries (sometimes way more) to get it going. It will only start when the tacho bounces. I have changed the ref and speed sensors but it made absolutely no difference. Does anybody know what to do/ had experience with this problem? The car runs fine after it starts and im really loving it! Just embarrassing whe n it takes 5 mins to start in a crowded area.
Thanks for any help!

Maybe the wiring to the speed/ref sensors?

So now the car just wont start at all. Had to be towed home. It may be the connection to the sensors.

How about the DME relay (it should be listed as the fuel pump realy or relay #2 if I remember correctly)

I thought it may be the DME relay, but the fuel pump seems to be running fine. I have installed a inspection filter before the fuel pump and i can see the fuel filling up as well as hear the fuel pump move. Before this my current problem I had huge fuel pump issues.

Could it maybe be an immobilizer? the car seems to have a really terribly installed old immobilizer that doesnt work, but maybe it is? I have no clue.

If there is no tach bounce then it's the sensors. An immobilizer isn't going to allow the car to crank at all.

That is true. was just a thought.
I have again replaced the sensors. Still no luck, just cranks over perfectly.

It could be the DME itself then?

Well, i suppose you could dismantle it and see if it has the common cold-solder joint problems.

Okay so I pulled out the DME and looked at the solders. Honestly they look quite burnt up, it even smells melted. Could this be the problem?
