Heater hose replacement

Found out what happened to cause my '83 na to overheat and leak coolant all over the floor: busted heater hose going into the firewall. The leak is in the middle of the hose and it seems easy enough to disconnect at the top, but I can't see how it's connected at the firewall. I can't find this procedure described at Clark's and nothing in the Hayne's manual either. Help!

its connected to the heater core behind the dash. Not fun at all. Not really advised, but if your sure you have can get all the break in the hose out, you can cut it and splice in another piece of hose using connectors and hose clamps.

That's what I was afraid of...I'll try to cut and splice 'cause I've got to move the car and don't have time to do a proper repair. You'd think those crazy Germans would make it possible to replace a simple hose without tearing the car apart!!!

Found the problem

Turns out it wasn't the heater hose...yeahhh...it was the heater control valve, a plastic part that melted and got a hole in it somehow and that's where the coolant was leaking out.

Ditch the Haynes manual too, pretty worthless in my opinion.
