And another dumb transmission question

So, I'm a bit confused here... According to Clarks and the factory manual, the transmission code reads like this (for earlier models):

- Seven digits total
- First two: Code letter
- 3-4: Day
- 5-6: Month
- 7th: Year

I recently purchased a spare transmission that is supposed to have come from an early car. The code off the case is: QK24106.

- QK: 1982-1985
- 24: Day 24 of the month
- 10: October
- 6: 1986

My question is how can the letter code designate an early unit while the year is later? Also, will this tranny fir my 84'? Thanks for any help.

From what I understand, it could be from a 924S. I believe they still used the early model codes. And yes, it should bolt right up with no problem.

Yes Chef is right that would have been a 1987 924 S transaxle as Porsche was a small company and just used stock up until it was gone then switched over right in mid assembly line or year.
