Many report the after market mounts lasting less than two years.

I have an '84 also. I would go with OME, they reportedly changed the design a tad since ours were first put on. (yes, I changed mine, too)

I concur. I have not seen the aftermarket ones last.
It is an ugly job to replace them - you will want to avoid having to do it again any time soon. AFJuvat

What about after market solid motor mounts? They claim to be superior, and since they are solid and not rubber, would they not be better? The only question I would have is do they help eliminate the 'engine shudder' feeling you get in the cab when your mounts begin to go.

Solid motor mounts are for 'racing'. They won't give you a smooth ride. They are for track use. If this is a daily driver I wouldn't recommend solid mounts

Thats what I was thinking, but those purple steel mounts look so cool under the hood!
![]() When my other mounts started to go bad, the whole cab shook like one of those vibrating beds when you reved the engine. I'm guessing the rubber mounts damper that, and the solid mounts would transfer that same vibration right back into my seats again. But still, purple steel is cool. -S
