NA tune and MSD 6A work together?

I acquired a 944 NA tune kit and did the installation tonight. The car starts but struggles to rev or hold an idle. Car ran fine before with a steady idle. Checked for vacuum leaks but didn't find anything wrong.

My question is, will the MSD unit work with the MAF?
Thanks
Bob

ditch the MSD...no need for it at all

after installing NA tune you will need to adjust your throttle bypass screw (maybe even the throttle stop) as the MAF lets a lot more air to the engine than the AFM did...you might be running lean with "AFM settings"

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a try and report back.

Ok, removed the MSD, restored the original coil wiring (black to +, green to -). Engine cranks and tries to fire then stalls. Acts like the AFM connect isn't plugged in. Throttle input doesn't change anything. Any suggestions? I have another good DME, so I don't have to remove the chip, thinking about removing everything to make sure all is good stock without the MSD again.

The MSD you are talking about is the Multi Spark units yes? What "kit" are you talking about and what inexactly is in the kit?

Is the MAF wire (red) connected to coil black?

Yes - what djnolan said above. This is likely how the NA Tune will act if you did not connect the red wire to switched ignition (15 circuit - black coil wire), or connected wrong (green coil wire) and damaged it.

To answer your original question: Yes. I am using the NA Tune with 4* cam advance key, Digital MSD 6A, and Brisk Racing EVO spark plugs, late tubular 2.5L NA Y headers (versus cast iron to save weight) and original Y collector with original 2-1/4"-ish exhaust. Had to add four pins and a jumper to the DME to accept the NA Tune chip board. Have all been working happily together, and with zero issues, for about a year now. Smooth with a lot more low end grunt and more power at all RPMs. I'm very happy with this setup.

I need to go up to the 2-1/2" Lindsey exhaust (after the collector), clean or replace the fuel injectors, and install the Innovate Fuel/Air Meter and WB Sensor (in a second bung I added) to finalize it. Always something else to do...

"Dirty" picture - photo after I changed out the head gasket (and a whole bunch of WYIT items) but before detailing.

Oh, and make sure the white male harness connector pins didn't get pushed out when plugging into the factory 5 pin female connector.

When I took out the MSD and rewired the coil I got the green and black wires switched. After a couple of tries to start the car, I got out the diagrams and found the problem. Red wire was only on the positive terminal but it must have taken out something. My bad. I guess I'll call Lindsey and see if they can help me. Bummer...hope it can be repaired.

Ok, I replaced the sensor and all is well. Dave at Lindsey was very helpful. He told me the sensor was used in 2005 Mustangs and I got one locally. Plugged it in and she fired right up.

I have to say, this has made a world of difference in how the car performs, way better throttle response and pulls like a new car (205K on stock engine). Kicking myself for waiting so long. The NA-Tune is the real deal folks. Cam key next belt change. Also, very easy to install once I got rid of the MSD ignition. Thanks for the help.....Bob

Follow-up in case somebody else comes across this thread:

The MSD 6A/6AL puts about 530V on the coil primary, so you can't use the coil connection for the N/A Tune red wire. You have to find a switched ignition wire elsewhere (circuit 15; typically a black wire). I used a piggyback faston connector on the G3 spade connection on the back of the fuse/relay box (924S).
