CV washer help
Hey guys,
I'm rebuilding my CV joints during my transmission swap and can't seem to find a replacement for the washer that goes between the axle and the joint. It's a concave/convex washer with spline grooves cut into it so it fits over the shift. I bought boot kits from our host but the washers included were two sizes between four kits: one too small and one too big, none with spline grooves. I'm using the old ones on three of the four but the fourth didn't seem to even be on there when I took them apart. Bottom line, where can I find this stupid thing?! It's the only thing keeping me from having fun in the car again! |

They are called Schnorr (sp) washers. If they are 8mm they are readily available form VW and 914 parts houses.

Spelling is correct but I believe the op is inquiring about the back up to the cv splined collar.

Yeah it looks like this:
![]() It goes on the axle on the opposite side of the CV joint from the C-clip and is dish shaped. |
