Russel's 951MAX III or Vitesse chip
Starting my build up of my 951 and this is really killing me on which chip I should install.
I have the Vitesse maf/chipset/injectors/fpr for my 951, mind you it's not the V-MAF+ chip with the map sensor, but it is a complete set. I have been looking into Russel Berry's 951MAX III chips now going to a multiboard setup, and I am also impressed with what he has to offer. From what I see, he can work with the Vitesse MAF, 15-18# boost levels on 93/94 octane gas, 3"/4" exhaust and we can buy blank chips to customize our chips. "For those who want to add images of other chips they have purchased, and/or your stock chip, we will offer a package deal of the Multi-Board, Burn2 EPROM programmer, blank 27SF512 chip (can be re-written), and the Multi-Max software, which allows you to 'stack' chip images and create an output file the burner can write to the chip. This software allows you to print out your chip images as reference to switch position." So what to do now? Stick with Vitesse or go with a MAX951 III Multiboard for maximum flexibility? Honestly if you already have the Vitesse setup, I would just use the Vitesse setup.
I don't think 951MAX is still around, though you can probably pick his stuff up from LR. Vitesse can update your chip if you want to do that. You can also look at Rogue's MAF setup which is also available through LR and if you want to be able to tune your maps you can add the Ostrich and have tunability of everything.

While the Berry chips have some of highest outputs in chip-only upgrades, there doesn't seem to be much data on them with MAF upgrades. I say stick with the Vitesse MAF system you already have if you're not going to add any more parts.
If you're going to spend money, then put it towards the Rogue M-tune. It's a modular system with upgradability. No need to burn chips or use emulators or piggybacks. PC-programmable from laptop directly to the DME. Last edited by DannoXYZ; 06-25-2015 at 01:28 PM.. |

I might sell vitesse set and just sit and wait. $1400 for the M-Tune is crazy, but we are so limited with choices on our car for MAF/Chip vendors, the market bears the price, and that price is substantial.

Yeah, it's up there, still much lower than it used to be.
If you're handy with wiring and soldering-iron, look into the Megaquirt. There's a couple threads on it from beginning to end. Will take more time than bolt-ons, but also gives you the highest gains now and in the future for the least amount of $. |

The local porsche shop owner in the next town mentioned megasquirt for my car after speaking him about my upgrade plans. If I knew how to wire it up/configure it, I would have definitely made the switch by now and dumped my 25+ year old DME in the trash with is shoddy solder joints and limited capacity. |
